General Rules for Pretty Brook Tennis Club Facilities

Note: Items in italics refer to rules and regulations involving our children. Attention to these policies will ensure a safe and pleasant environment for all.

  1. All members are expected to be familiar with the rules of the Club and the appropriate use of the Club’s facilities and must take responsibility for the behavior of their guests while at the club.
  2. Members must assume full responsibility for the safety, behavior and discipline of children in their care.
  3. Children 12 years old and under shall not be permitted on Club grounds unless directly supervised by an adult or appropriate babysitter.
  4. Children 13 and older may use the Club without their parents’ presence at the Club. They are responsible for knowing and abiding by all Club rules. This privilege may be withdrawn if a child does not behave appropriately.
  5. Any injuries incurred while at the Club by a member or a guest should be brought to management’s attention immediately.
  6. Persons suspected of being under the influence of drugs or who are inebriated will be asked to leave Club property.
  7. Making or receiving telephone calls on cell phones is restricted to the parking area only. We ask that electronic devices used for texting, e-mailing and internet are kept off the Terrace and off all Courts and that they always be kept in silent or vibrate mode unless they are in use in the parking lot area.
  8. Members and guests are not permitted to bring dogs or other pets on Club premises except for a working companion such as a seeing-eye dog.
  9. The Club does not assume responsibility for valuables belonging to members unless they have been secured with management.
  10. Due to safety and liability considerations, skating on or swimming in the pond is prohibited. (The pond is only partially owned by Pretty Brook Tennis Club.)
  11. Lockers are provided in the clubhouse for adults year round. All children under the age of 13 are required to use the dressing rooms provided in the Pavilion. Changing clothes outside is prohibited.
  12. Members may not profit financially from business or services associated with the Club unless a unanimous vote of the Board of Governors rescinds this rule in a particular case.
  13. Club towels are provided for the members’ use on Club grounds and removing them from Club property is strictly forbidden.
  14. When staff is not present at the Club, the honor system will apply for all charges made by a member. Charges shall be doubled if members are not faithful to this unique part of Pretty Brook Tennis Club. Members have 24 hours to call in the names of players or guests post-play if they have inadvertently failed to sign in all names. Otherwise, the above applies.

Dress Code

Tennis Attire

White tennis attire with minimal colored embroidery, piping and/or decoration is required on the outdoor tennis courts. We ask that men wear collared shirts and that children on the outdoor tennis courts also wear white. Footwear must be predominately white, rubber-soled tennis shoes. Cross trainers are not allowed.

Indoor Tennis Attire

It is not necessary to wear all white on the indoor court, but players must wear clean, dry, non-marking athletic shoes.

Squash Attire

All players on the squash courts must wear protective eyewear at all times (including during warm-up), as well as clean, non-marking squash shoes. Squash players must wear non-outdoor shoes.

Terrace Attire

Appropriate attire is required on the terrace, including at the snack bar. Full cover-ups for women and girls and shirts for men and boys are considered appropriate attire over swimsuits.
